The Bean & Seed is a multifaceted effort to promote healthy living. It started as a laugh between my wife, Mary, and I over what I’d call my kitchen/her personal in-house restaurant. It has now evolved into an idea for a website/community where topics such as food prep, physical health, and mental health can be discussed. I believe I have a unique perspective on these subjects as a relative newcomer willing to write about what I’m learning. Obviously, this makes me far from being an expert, but I’ve got time to invest and I am very thorough in my research and enjoy streamlining and making things concise and efficient. It is my hope, then, to be able to offer you condensed versions of what I’ve been working on in my kitchen and for my own physical and mental health.
In future posts, I look forward to sharing timesaving recipes for easy to cook, but relatively healthy meals. I want to discuss taking care of your body and doing what you can to get active. I want to share about my mental health journey over the last few years. And, mostly, I want to provide food for thought. Note that I’m using phrases like “relatively healthy” and “doing what you can”. I think it is very important to be able to bridge the gap between an unhealthy lifestyle and a healthy one. It is not very realistic to tell someone who eats out every day to start cooking healthy whole food meals for themselves. It’s not easy to sign up for a gym membership and stick to it when you were previously living a sedentary life. And our collective mental health… most of us don’t even know we have issues, but we all have aspects of our minds that need work. If any of this makes sense to you, then I think I’ve provided food for thought.
Do I have something of value to offer? That will be for you to decide, but I do hope that you will enjoy my content and contribute to the site. Personally, I feel better just writing this first post.
Thanks for reading, Matt
